The history of 4tran
Founded in 2022 by Nate Rumrill and Alan Rumrill. 4tran is named after the coding language “fortran” created by IBM. The first widely used coding language used by computers. We started by saving old pieces of retro and vintage technology that was destined for the dumpster and refurbishing them and giving them new life. As we began to sell some of this old tech we thought a name that showed a connection to history and technology would fit what we do. We took old crt tvs, stereos, and old video games originally from our local dump, flea markets, yard sales, and goodwill stores and brought them home cleaned them and got them working. Preserving little pieces of history along the way while helping people find pieces of old tech they wanted in their collections.
Then we just traded up and built our collection from there. We slowly filled our underground vault with a wide array of collectible and historical items. We operate most of our sales online. Our warehouse where we package and ship out un-vaulted items is in New England.
2 years old and going strong we have established a Membership, Discord, Twitter, and online shop.
How the vault works
We operate the vault by having some items always available online from the vault while having special big piece items that we un-vault once every 2 months. The current BP (big piece) items on sale at that time will go back into the vault until some point in the future.
By becoming a monthly member of the site you can get an early sneak peek of the items coming out of the vault. As well as get dates of when items will go on sale or go up for auction.
